236 — Comedy Hour With Robert the Plant!

I must admit, I didn’t write that plant joke. LOL

However, I cannot remember where I heard it, so I can’t give credit. Double however, whomever wrote that joke probably wouldn’t want credit anyway! ;-)

BTW — How are you liking the color so far? Do you want it to continue? Or, do you prefer the Black and White?? Email me and let me know!

Happy Friday, peeps!

    Now THAT’S comedy lead!. :D

    [ I prefer b + w ]

  2. Irma says:
    February 6, 2009 at 1:58 am

Hehe the bowtie really gives him some class ;)

I’m loving the color! But I’m just more of a “color” kind of person.

    *clap…..clap clap* … funny fern, jocular germinator…*cough*

haha it’s hilarious when I cue the Hugh Grant voice/accent.
    1 vote for colour

today’s cameo was “tyler durden” as the “you suck!” guy.
    loved the last panel!

I like the colour. I also like the comedy hour with Robert strip idea…I would look forward to others like it. hint. hint.

  6. InfamousAdam says:

    i love the color

  7. wit says:
    February 6, 2009 at 9:43 am

oooohhhhh…techno-color! The bow tie is a great touch too. I checked this strip out with puffy, tired eyes this morning and for a split second I thought Robert was wearing a bikini top. LOL.

  8. wit says:

Irma: You’re a woman of color? I need to adjust my freakin’ monitor!

  9. wit says:
    February 6, 2009 at 9:45 am

PS: (I just read the blog post…sorry bout taking up your comment section) I think I like the black and white better. I’ll tell you why: You are very detailed with your line work as far as cross hatching and shading and such. The color is purty but I think it distracts from your inking skills.

    BAD joke…but still funny.

Im torn between color and black and white. Part of me likes both. But maybe B&W just a little bit more. So maybe leave color for special occasions????

  11. Orcbuddy says:
    February 6, 2009 at 10:07 am

Robert needs to get Dewey a snare drum to provide the obligatory rim shots.

I vote for Black & White.

i vote b & w - I agree with wit, your shading makes the comic

  13. Mickel says:
    February 6, 2009 at 12:43 pm

I like both, but I may be leaning toward b/w. I think the color Fridays was a nice balance.
BTW this is more for yesterdays strip than today. http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/18637190/detail.html

Well, it seems to be leaning Black and White. Hmm, well, since I have all of next week colored already, I’ll put out a rather crude poll asking for y’all’s opinions again. Thanks everyone!

Brandy — LOL! Indeed. And thanks for the feedback!

Irma — Robert’s a gentleman, first and foremost. He loves to dress it up. Second, he’s a plant. So, how the F*** did he tie it? LOL

Ariana — LMAO. Hugh Grant! Classic.

tyler — That was you??? For Shame!!! (I was the one coughing) ;-)

Laura — Ah, Robert is my “Kramer,” if you will. I don’t want to play him too hard, otherwise he becomes ridiculous and starts yelling racial epithets at other plants! ;-) HOWEVER, he WILL be around next week!

InfamousAdam — Why thank you! It loves you too! :)

Wit — Why are you so tired? WUSS!! :) Hmm, interesting perspective. Thanks BTW, I always thought my stuff looks like Chicken Scratch.

Teresa — Yeah, it’s an awful joke. HA!! But Robert is a horrible character, so, it’s okay! Thanks for the input, I’m really torn now. Hmm….

Orc — LOL That would be funny seeing Dewey with a drum stick in his mouth in the background. Damn, I wish I would’ve done that!

Suzanne — Really? Interesting. I didn’t know you felt that way! Maybe we should start actually talking to each other instead of just texting. Text me back if you agree…

Mickel — Thanks for the link! Hmm, I’ve been toying with the idea of Color friday again…

  15. me! says:

Another vote for b&w, with color Fridays. And 3 votes for never using that joke again.

  16. Greg Bulmash says:
    February 6, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Count me in for B&W. Clovis just looks more evil that way.

There are a number of jokes I wrote that are floating around the web, but not always credited to me. One’s even become an urban legend.

Thankfully, I can honestly deny responsibility for the one in today’s strip.

  17. Jessica says:

Late entry for black and white.

  18. Lucas says:
    February 6, 2009 at 6:44 pm

me! — Agreed, that joke will NEVER be told, AGAIN!!

Greg — LMAO!! Thanks for the link!

Jessica — Not late! Thanks for your thoughts. I never realized how much people like the B&W. Interesting.

  19. Garrett Williams says:
    February 7, 2009 at 1:34 am

The color is certainly distracting from the art, and I don’t think the colors are very well-matched. On the other hand, the black and white comics are beautiful!

  20. Lucas says:
    February 7, 2009 at 1:38 am

Garrett — Really? Hmm, interesting. I had a talk with my wife about it tonight and she said that she loved the Black and White. Hmm, perhaps that’s the way to go?

  21. Ancient Mariner Fred says:
    February 7, 2009 at 4:49 pm

I’m diggin’ the back and the white. The current coloring scheme doesn’t bring out the texture of the characters or objects.

  22. Jake says:
    February 7, 2009 at 7:29 pm

As Animal from The Muppet Show would say…

BLACK AND WHITE! BLACK AND WHITE!

  23. Raoul Duke says:
    February 8, 2009 at 9:43 pm

That joke may have been lame, but Robert’s comedic timing was impeccable.
